The Luftwaffe: A History, by John Killen

John Killen's exhaustive work is a study of German air power between 1915 and 1945, from the early days of flying when Immelmann, Boelke, Richtofen and other First World War aces fought and died to give Germany air supremacy, to the nightmare existence of the Luftwaffe as the Third Reich plunged headlong to destruction.

Here are the aircraft: the frail biplanes and triplanes of the Kaiser's war; the great Lufthansa aircraft and airships of the turbulent Thirties; the monoplanes designed to help Hitler in his conquest of Europe. Here are the generals who forged the air weapon of the Luftwaffe - the swaggering Goering, the playboy Udet, the ebullient Kesselring and the scapegoat Jeschonnek; here, too, are the pilots who tried to keep faith with their Fatherland despite overwhelming odds; Adolf Galland, Werner Molders, Joachim Marseille and Hanna Reitsch. Not least are the actions fought by the Luftwaffe from the Spanish Civil War to the Battle of Britain, through the bloody struggle for Crete and the siege of Stalingrad to the fearful twilight over Berlin.

A serious reader would do better buying a newer publication
By Amazon Customer
This book is written in the old style of inter-war histories. Lots of old world British opinions on German national character and what the author thought the foreigners were thinking without any factual based conclusions. There are not any references, just a bibliography - presumably what the author read before writing this book. I think this book is a history introduction for juvenile readers - not for experienced adults who are reading for new information or refreshing insights or observations. A serious reader would do better buying a newer publication. Try Max Hastings publications.

Short History on the Luftwaffe Lands on the Mark
By Peter B. Mason
John Killen's "The Luftwaffe: A History" is a brief but satisfying overview of the German Luftwaffe. German military personalities who helped create and then doom the German air force, strategic and tactical blunders on the part of Hitler, Goering, Miich and others, as well as the history of the individual planes which comprised the backbone of this formidable force are evenly presented and fairly balanced.

While no means an exhaustive history of the Luftwaffe, Killen's book is an excellent introductory history. It moves right along from the flying aces of WWI, the rebuilding of the German air arm after the Versailles Treaty through to the end of WW II. While told from a British view, Killen is even-handed in his appraisal of the adversaries strategies and key figures.

As with all aspects of the German Wehrmacht, The success of the Luftwaffe was fatally compromised by Hitler's military amateurism and impatience, and an intoxication with tactical Blitzkrieg tactics over more sober strategic considerations. The most startling thing I learned was the insistence by Goering and Odet (the Luftwaffe's chief technical guru) on having every plane in the Luftwaffe, even a planned strategic bomber, being capable of acting as dive bombers!

History of Europe, 1250-1450, by Ephraim Emerton

"The period of which this volume treats differs fundamentally both from that which precedes and from that which follows it. In each of those periods we are able to fix our attention upon a certain well-defined set of institutions which completely control its activities. In the former, the strictly medieval, we see Europe wholly under the sway of two vast ideas, feudalism and the Roman church system. In the latter, the purely modern period, Europe has almost wholly lost those ideas and has come out into the familiar political structure of a family of independent national states and into the freer air of religious toleration, if not yet of religious liberty. Between these two lies the period which is the subject of our present study. It is a chapter in human history of which no brief general description can be given. It is impossible to point to any peculiar institutions that govern its life. As we try to unfold the tangled thread of its history we seem to find only confusion and disorder... There we are conscious of a mighty civilization passing away and of another just vaguely taking shape in rude barbaric forms which, however, contain the germs of a new and more vigorous life." - Ephraim Emerton

good synopsis
By Russell L. Muse
I found this to be a good synopsis of this period in history, of which little is studied in school. It is an explaination of the bridge between the feudal world and the more modern world. The history is somewhat confusing, but the author does explain things quite well. This is one of the cases where looking at a map while reading the book would be helpful. If you are like me and do not really know European History other than English history of this period, this is a good starting point.

Mein Kampf, by Adolf Hitler

In 1922, just four years after the war to end all wars, an unknown Austrian then living in Bavaria planned a pamphlet to be called Settling Accounts. In it he intended to attack the ineffectiveness of the dominant political parties in Germany which were opposed to the new National Socialists (Nazis). In November 1923, Adolf Hitler was jailed for the abortive Munich Beer Hall putsch along with men willing and able to assist him with his writing. With the help of these collaborators, chief among them Rudolf Hess, the pamphlet became a book. Settling Accounts became Mein Kampf, an unparalleled example of muddled economics and history, appalling bigotry, and an intense self-glorification of Adolf Hitler as the true founder and builder of the National Socialist movement. It was written in hate and it contained a blueprint for violent bloodshed. When Mein Kampf was published in 1925, it was a failure. In 1926 a second volume appeared - it was no more successful than the first. People either laughed at it or ignored it. They were wrong to do so. As Hitler's power increased, pressure was put on all party members to buy the book. Gradually this pressure was extended to all elements of the German population. Soon Mein Kampf was even being passed out to newlywed couples as a gift. Ironically, and frighteningly, by the time Hitler came to power on January 30, 1933, what has been considered by many to be the most satanic book ever written was running neck and neck with the Bible at the top of the German bestseller lists. In his excellent introduction to this definitive American translation of Mein Kampf, Konrad Heiden writes: "For years Mein Kampf stood as proof of the blindness and complacency of the world. For in its pages Hitler announced -- long before he came to power -- a program of blood and terror in a self-revelation of such overwhelming frankness that few among its readers had the courage to believe it ... That such a man could go so far toward realizing his ambitions, and -- above all -- could find millions of willing tools and helpers; that is a phenomenon the world will ponder for centuries to come." We would be wrong in thinking that such a program, such a man, and such appalling consequences could not reappear in our world of the present. We cannot permit our selves the luxury of forgetting the tragedy of World War II or the man who, more than any other, fostered it. Mein Kampf must be read and constantly remembered as a specimen of evil demagoguery that people whenever men grow tired of thinking and acting for themselves. Mein Kampf is a blueprint for the age of chaos. It transcends in historical importance any other book of the present generation. In his translation Ralph Manheim has taken particular care to give an exact English equivalent of Hitler's highly individual, and often awkward style, including his occasional grammatical errors. We believe this book should stand as the complete, final, and definitive English version of Hitler's own story of his life, his political philosophy, and his thwarted plans for world domination. Translated by Ralph Manheim with an introduction by Konrad Heiden. A compilation of Hitler's most famous prison writings of 1923--the bible of National Socialism and the blueprint for the Third Reich.

Amazon.com Review

The angry ranting of an obscure, small-party politician, the first volume of Mein Kampf was virtually ignored when it was originally published in 1925. Likewise the second volume, which appeared in 1926. The book details Hitler's childhood, the "betrayal" of Germany in World War I, the desire for revenge against France, the need for lebensraum for the German people, and the means by which the National Socialist party can gain power. It also includes Hitler's racist agenda and his glorification of the "Aryan" race. The few outside the Nazi party who read it dismissed it as nonsense, not believing that anyone could--or would--carry out its radical, terrorist programs. As Hitler and the Nazis gained power, first party members and then the general public were pressured to buy the book. By the time Hitler became chancellor of the Third Reich in 1933, the book stood atop the German bestseller lists. Had the book been taken seriously when it was first published, perhaps the 20th century would have been very different.

Beyond the anger, hatred, bigotry, and self-aggrandizing, Mein Kampf is saddled with tortured prose, meandering narrative, and tangled metaphors (one person was described as "a thorn in the eyes of venal officials"). That said, it is an incredibly important book. It is foolish to think that the Holocaust could not happen again, especially if World War II and its horrors are forgotten. As an Amazon.com reader has pointed out, "If you want to learn about why the Holocaust happened, you can't avoid reading the words of the man who was most responsible for it happening." Mein Kampf, therefore, must be read as a reminder that evil can all too easily grow. --Sunny Delaney

Review
A Message from the Anti-Defamation League: Mein Kampf was Hitler's blueprint for what later became his war for world domination and for the extermination of the Jews and others. Written eight years before he assumed power in Germany, the book lays it all out: his megalomania, his conspiratorial obsession with Jews and his lust for power. For all who claimed they didn't know, all they had to do was read Mein Kampf to know of Hitler's intentions.

The translation closest to the Original German
By Susanna Hutcheson
There are four or five currently popular English translations of Mein Kampf. I'll say a few words about the translations. Then I'll say a few things about the book.

This translation, The Reynal & Hitchcock is my personal favorite. It was translated by a scholarly committee and is taken directly from the German. I consider it closest to the original and many people agree. There are, however, others who prefer the Murphy translation and yet others who claim the Manheim is superior.

The Reynal & Hitchcock has no negative comments about Hitler. Nor does it appear to endorse his words. On the other hand, the Manheim has a definite bias. I feel that the Reynal & Hitchcock is the most fair and true to the actual words of Hitler.

This book is a difficult read because the Germans don't seem to know what a period is. The sentences go on and on with only a comma now and then. But in the Reynal & Hitchcock you'll find unfamiliar words explained. The notes and annotations are absolutely wonderful.

I own the 1939 edition and love it. One other thing I'll say is this: The name of Henry Ford was taken out of Manheim. I'm not sure if it's in Murphy or not. But it is in Reynal & Hitchcock.

Now a few words about Mein Kampf -- the book. I assume if you're reading this review you already know about Mein Kampf and have perhaps read it or read part of it. But if not, perhaps a few words are in order.

Mein Kampf is an interesting look into the mind of Hitler and it is interesting how we can see some of the same characteristics running in numerous people in office today. If we don't know history, we're apt to repeat it.

Indeed, Hitler might even have won a Nobel Peace Prize based on his promises and the excitement he created in people before they really got to know him had the prize been given in those days! Certainly such greats as JFK and Churchill gave him glowing compliments.

Why did people follow Hitler? Knowing what we do now, it's easy to think the German people were stupid. The truth is the country had suffered a severe punishing war and hyperinflation -- money was worthless. They needed a real leader.

Hitler promised everyone everything. He was just the "right" person for that particular time. If times had been different, he would not have risen to power in all likelihood.

I find Hitler part genius, part psychopath.

The book -- no matter what translation -- is a must-read. It's a classic. It's a book that gives you insight into one of the most important minds of the 20th Century and in all of history.

Why should you read any translation of Mein Kampf? Sun Tzu said you must know your enemy. We read about those we regard as dangerous, or wrong or criminal in order to avoid that type of individual ever encroaching into power again. We also read to understand that person in relationship to the times in which he lived.

Just as Hitler knew his dreaded enemy, the Communist Party and Karl Marx, we should know Hitler, the Fascist dictator. Hitler didn't take on an issue or an enemy without knowing it inside-out. In that regard, he was brilliant. He knew what he was fighting. He knew the enemy.

I highly recommend this translation and the book. If you want a totally Americanized translation, consider Mein Kampf (The Ford Translation) and for a delightful read that will tell you all about the life of Hitler in a most colorful way, read Adolf Hitler: The Definitive Biography by the prize winning author, John Toland.

A truly PEOPLE'S EDITION of Mein Kampf!
By L. E. Camp
Don't believe the negative reviews... If you pass on this edition, you will truly miss out on a fantastic translation of Mein Kampf!

I have read the 1943 Manheim translation, the 1939 Murphy translation, the 1939 Reynal & Hitchcock translation and the 2009 Ford translation. All have their own particular merits, and all appeal to certain audiences. The Manheim appeals to the scholarly and is indeed a faithful, word-for-word translation of Mein Kampf. However, it is incomplete. Further, following it in places can be very confusing in the English language, and many people I know have simply put it down in frustration. It's obviously a scholar's edition, as the German-language footnotes attest.

The Reynal & Hitchcock edition is a better flowing edition than the Manheim, in my opinion, but has been out of print since 1943, when the Manheim was published by Houghton-Mifflin. Why? Because Houghton-Mifflin did not want to pay royalties to Reynal & Hitchcock for their translation, so Ralph Manheim was commissioned for a new translation, which is, in fact, clumsier than the original.

The Murphy edition is far shorter, a fairly easy read for those who speak/read British English and have a decent vocabulary. However, it is paraphrased - as Murphy read a paragraph and put it into his own words. Not Hitler's words, but in most places, true to the meaning. But in some places, he misses the point (as Ford's book about the MEIN KAMPF translation controversy points out). So if you want Hitler, you won't get it from Murphy...

Onto Ford's translation... The thing I like about this translation is that it strikes me as a true PEOPLE's EDITION of Mein Kampf. It is COMPLETE and TRUE to the original, but being a PEOPLE'S EDITION does NOT mean that it is dumbed-down. It simply means it is readable, flows well and keeps the reader's interest throughout. EVERY READER'S INTEREST. And that was exactly what the author, Adolf Hitler, wanted. He wanted EVERYONE in his country to read his book. Not just the university professor. It wasn't for the elite few. It was for the bus driver, the soldier, the unemployed - it made no difference! It was for everyone. In German, it flowed (and still flows) fine. But when translated to English, it doesn't flow so well, as various translations prove. However, with the Ford translation, it flows VERY WELL. It has been restored to its former status and is once again for EVERYONE.

Couple this with Ford's explanatory notes in the text as well as his added 27 pages of pictures that show key people and places mentioned by Hitler, and this makes an edition of Mein Kampf that has yet to be beaten.

An incredibly valuable and fascinating translation
By Susanna Hutcheson
While not an easy read, I rather enjoy this translation and find it quite useful. The good news is -- once you get into it, you find it's not all that difficult to read. You begin to understand the message and the translation.

James Murphy started the translation. Ford, president of Elite Minds, publisher of the book, says Murphy embellished it, left things out, added things, and used academic words that make it hard to read.

He says he has not changed any wording and he has left all mistakes as they were. He adds, and probably correctly, that much was lost in the translation and that it sounded more like Murphy and less like Hitler. Murphy wrote for the intellectual while Hitler spoke to the working class.

Little needs to be said about the words of Hitler. I enjoy reading Mein Kampf. That certainly is not an endorsement of the man or his movement. Mein Kampf is an interesting look into the mind of this man and it is interesting how we can see some of the same characteristics running in numerous people in office today. If we don't know history, we're apt to repeat it.

Indeed, Hitler might even have won a Nobel Peace Prize based on his promises and the excitement he created in people before they really got to know him had the prize been given in those days! Certainly such greats as JFK and Churchill gave him glowing compliments.

While this translation can be awkward, I recommend it to you. It is close to the original, which gives it incredible value. Moreover, if you're a careful reader with a decent vocabulary and perhaps a good dictionary, it's not that difficult to read. It might turn out to be your preferred version.

If you're interested and fascinated by World War 1 or World War 11 and most importantly, if you want to understand history and how the words of Hitler changed the course of history, you need to read all translations.

Highly recommended.

Katsuya Terada's The Monkey King Volume 2, by Katsuya Terada

The Monkey King is Asia''s greatest fantasy epic, the inspiration for everything from Dragon Ball to Saiyuki. But the legend has never been more brutal, more barbaric, more beautiful, than in Katsuya Terada''s The Monkey King Volume 2! After a seven-year hiatus, Katsuya Terada, one of Japan''s most sought-after commercial illustrators, returns to his adaptation of the saga with The Monkey King Volume 2. A rare example of a manga painted entirely in full color, The Monkey King is the epic of Goku, a savage ape once imprisoned by Lord Buddha himself, but now freed by the monk Sanzo to serve as his bodyguard on a journey to the West . . . across a wasteland filled with weird, violent, and sexy demons!

The definitive adaption of the classic Monkey King tale!
By Nam Hien Nguyen
I've been a longtime fan of Katsuya Terada since seeing his fantastic illustrations the old issues of Nintendo Power magazine from way back in the late 80s/early 90s. I'm glad to see that he's still at it and has shown no signs of quitting anytime soon. Every single thing he draws just oozes with pure awesomeness and this entire book is no exception.

This book, volume 2, is the sequel to the earlier volume 1 book The Monkey King Volume 1 (v. 1), which was actually originally published 12 years prior to this one. I've no idea why it took Katsuya Terada so long, but it was worth the wait!

---STORY & THEMES---

This book follows the story of The Monkey King, the ultimate legendary badass in all of world mythology, as he battles freaky-looking demons, as well as sexy demons, on a journey to the west, along with a cowardly pig, a living disembodied head ( who inexplicably begins to grow a body ), and a super-powered monk in the form of an embryo stored inside the body of a woman. The Monkey King's ultimate goal is to kill The Buddha, who in this adaption, is an invincible giant shape-shifting world-dominating being!

This volume revolves around two plot points: Naga, a rival character to Goku, emerges to stir up trouble. And unexpected consequences occur when the disciples decide to transfer Sanzo's embryo into a demon's body. These stories are in addition to several side stories, including an encounter with some tragic snow demons, the story of how The Monkey King obtained his staff, and the humorous misadventures of Hakkai the pig.

In case you don't know, these stories are, in fact, mostly based (albeit loosely with ample amounts of gratuitous violence and nudity) on chapters from the original Journey to the West tale, not simply invented by Terada. It might be easy to assume that Terada is being sacrilegious to the original Buddhist themes of the story by taking it and inserting mindless sex and violence, but the Buddhist symbolism is actually still there.

For instance, the monk Sanzo's disciples each represent flaws in the human mind as defined by Buddhist philosophy. For example, the pig Hakkai is a representation of temptations and pleasures. It is Hakkai's cravings and desires for these things that get him into trouble. Goku is a representation of anger and rage - it is his propensity to launch into violence without thinking things through that get him into trouble. These deep themes are all present in the book - it's not mindless violence, it's philosophical!

My favorite of these subtle themes, however, is Terada's depiction of Shaka (a.k.a. Buddha). Shaka Nyorai's name - specifically the "Nyorai" part - has the thought-provoking meaning of being present everywhere, yet not specifically defined at any one place. It's clear that Terada understands this concept, because my favorite moment in the book is when the Monkey King realizes the truth behind this meaning himself, because Terada's depiction of this revelation is nothing short of spectacular.

If anyone asks you to explain Buddhism to them, just show them this book!

---CONTENT---

Be warned, the content in this book is extreme - the explicit content parental advisory warning on the cover is certainly well deserved.

I don't consider myself much of a prude when it comes to seeing violence and nudity, but some of the violence in this book made even me wince. Did we really have to see a naked decapitated corpse sliced open with a knife? Yikes! Avoid this book if you have a weak stomach.

Also, the sheer awesomeness of the action and everything else is enough for me to overlook some of the perverted aspects, such as Terada's questionable fetish for drawing bound and naked women. That's in addition to just about every female depicted with giant exposed breasts. Since everything is so extreme to the point of ridiculousness, at some point nothing's actually shocking anymore, but I do wish Terada would tone things down sometimes - maybe just a little bit.

---NOTES---

If you found yourself confused by the first volume, which assumed that you're already familiar with the Journey to the West story, which is widely known across Asia, but perhaps not so much elsewhere, this volume is actually more forgiving than the previous volume, because whereas Vol 1 comprised of disjointed episodes that frequently jumped back and forth between past and present, Vol 2 is more straightforward.

Of course, if you don't understand anything, there's also a well written essay at the end of the book, detailing helpful things such as the intricacies of the translation, the historical context, and the relation between this book and the original tale.

---FINAL THOUGHTS---

This book, along with the previous volume, easily ranks among my favorite comic-books. I can't wait for volume 3! (...that is, if Terada ever gets around to drawing it...).

An Irreverent and Irrelevant Adaptation of 'Journey to the West'
By EisNinE
This is the second volume of Katsuya Terada's comic adaptation of 'Journey to the West', a 16th century Chinese novel that tells the story of a monk, Xuanzang, who travels to India to obtain sacred texts, dissatisfied with the poor Chinese translations of Buddhist scripture. Although the novel, attributed to Wu Cheng'en, is based on historical accounts of the real-life monk's pilgrimage to India in 630 AD, the novel adds fantastic elements from Taoism, Buddhism and folk tales, including three inhuman protectors sent to the monk by the Buddha -- one of which was 'The Monkey King' -- as well as a dragon prince who serves as Xuanzangs' steed. The character of the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, is the subject of the novel's opening chapters, a powerful demi-god who calls himself the 'Great Sage Equal to Heaven' and challenges the Taoist deities; after a celestial rebellion, the Buddha traps Sun Wukong under a mountain...
Katsuya Terada gives the characters of this revered novel a radical reinterpretation, but apparently stays on the basic path of the 16th century 'Journey'. Most readers in Japan are familiar with the source material, in the same way that many western readers are familiar with details of the Bible. Terada created the manga assuming a certain level of familiarity, and the resulting omissions of explanatory exposition makes for a confusing read in North America. And just as we take for granted biblical mythology that is really quite bizarre from an objective modern standpoint, the antiquated perceptions and beliefs of medieval China make for a jarring, idiosyncratic story.
The cross-cultural incompatibility is only a problem for those who open this book and it's predecessor looking for a thrilling, 'Berserk' or 'Blade of the Immortal' style manga volume; I bought it for Terada's artwork, and anyone doing the same will not be disappointed. One of the few mangaka to publish full-color painted art, this second volume was a long-time in the making, and features some of the most stunning comic art you'll ever see. Like many of the best Japanese artists, including Katsuhiro Otomo, Satoshi Kon, and Taiyo Matsumoto, Katsuya Terada has a distinctly European influence. 'The Monkey King' would fit well in the Humanoids Publishing back catalog, with the rendering in this volume taking his art to new levels. He was one of the first popular Illustrators to make the switch from oils and acrylics to digital paints, and remains one of the best practitioners, taking advantage of the ability to zoom in and execute details with a precision that is near the nano-level. This is an excellent showcase, featuring all his favorite subjects, in particular beautiful women wearing little or nothing, and fantastic creatures inspired by both ancient mythology and science fiction. The production values on both volumes are up to Dark Horse's usually high standards, with thick, glossy paper and covers that utilize the end-folds to create wraparound landscape format paintings some 20 inches wide by 8 and a half inches tall, with gold metallic characters. To me, this book is similar to 'Arzach' by Moebius; the story is virtually irrelevant, a wire-frame skeleton to give shape to the beautiful imagery.

For me, the Holy Trinity is Cheyney, Cory and Chandler - and Deighton is up there too
By Stainless Steel
I must admit, I am an incorrigible aficionado of crime and spy novels, especially those written between the 1930s-60s. Hammett, Deighton, Fleming... these are names that will strike a sympathetic chord with enthusiasts of the genre. But for me, the Holy Trinity is Cheyney, Cory and Chandler - of which my favorite novel is Dead Man Falling.
First published in 1978, the story is set in the year 1941, nearly a year after the German invasion of Britain and it’s surrender. In this alternative history, Detective Superintendent Douglas Archer, of the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) is called in to investigate a murder of a man in Shepherd Mallet, an area of London.
Novels on alternative history fascinate me. Since the 1950s, this type of fiction has, to a large extent, merged with science fiction involving time travel between alternate histories. It's so good to see a different take on it, perhaps only bettered by Robert Harris’s Fatherland.
The new TV adaptation of SS-GB will no doubt bring much attention to this book, but its the whole golden age of British crime and spy novels that should be praised. Each of the novelists I have mentioned should be read and enjoyed by the many.

Satisfying but misses a bit
By Fin Boro
I always wanted to read this book by Deighton since I enjoyed 'Bomber' but I just never got around to it. I finally ordered the Kindle version and found that it was a bit slow in the beginning due to character development but it picked up a bit around the middle. There were some interesting plot twists and overall it was an enjoyable read. The one thing that bothered me about it was that it seemed to end too quickly by tying up a bunch of loose threads all at once in the final confrontation.

The Ultimate 'What if' Situation!
By David
So me an my great grandmother would trade books and she really loves books about WWII and the era. I was watching a show on the History Channel about what would have been different if the Nazi's won the war and so on. I explained to her that they had shows and books such as The Man In The High Castle - Season 1 she thought this was an amazing idea and couldn't wait to read about. I hadn't heard about SS-GB until I went looking for good alt-fictions books I saw a couple blogs and listopia's recommend it. And since I let my great-grandma read the books before I do I had to wait and here about how good the book is.
First off the book has an amazing premise behind it. It's not like a lot of alt fiction that doesn't tell you how something got to the way it is it tells you and guides you in this new world. SS-GB takes a spin off of the other alt- WWII fiction i have read where the Nazi's didn't control the entire planet but rather just Great Britain. SS-GB is an amazing book it literally astonished me how well written it is. It doesn't just allow you see what life is like it allows you to see the restrictions and curfews posed on the British when the Nazi's took over.
This dark, eerie, strange world you find yourself in will leave you amazed.

Perfect choice for anyone looking to get started with react native development
By Dave Moskovit
This is a superb book to get started with react native. It was exactly what I was looking for specially coz I have no back ground of react world, the first chapter really gives good introduction to key concepts of react. The authors clearly know how to teach this subject because the material flows very naturally. They slowly introduce the reader to various concepts and features so that you never feel confused or overwhelmed. Post this book I am exploring react and react native world is changing very fast though this book bootstraps you to this form of development one has to continue to keep themselves updated regularly. Hopefully i'll be able to launch my first react native ios app pretty soon.

Great resource to get started with React native
By Amazon Customer
This book is a very good introduction to react native. React world is changing at a very fast pace but all the examples work seamlessly. Book is clear and concise and follows the format of an interactive lecture. Its Not a recipe book or reference book, but this makes it a better place to start. Dont have to look back and fourth to different blogs and documentation. It also has first chapter on Introduction to react - which was essential specially for some one like me having no idea about so many new things that are unique to react world.
