Better than Cussler

I'm afraid I've not given Clouston nearly enough credit! Having read "A Lunatic at Large" and it's sequel first, I was under the mistaken impression that he was first and foremost a writer of comic fiction. In this book, Clouston proves himself more believable than Clive Cussler and MUCH more readable than John LeCarrie.
First published in 1919 and made into a film in 1939, it's a proper page turner with a twist at the end that now seems obvious, but at the time caught me by surprise. As an example of an early spy novel, I'd recommend it to anyone interested in the genre.

Great for a student, great for a lover of fiction.

Wonderful selection of iconic Korean stories, authors, themes, which progress chronologically through a tumultuous modern trajectory. Themes center around modernization, Japanese occupation, male-female relationships, trauma, war, development and authoritarianism, rural vs urban, and so on. Heavy reads, prepare to have to sit and chew with the graphic characters and scenes for a few days (graphic in their rawness and or helplessness).

I ordered this book for my modern korean literature class and it was just what the teacher wanted. All of the stories give an inside sight into the thinking and mid-set of the writers under japanese colonization. This is an amazing book for anyone interested in korean history and culture or even if you like to read. It's refreshing :)

To fulfill university requirements, I took a Korean Lit class in which I enjoyed reading this anthology. I'm neither Korean nor a humanities major of any kind, but I enjoyed learning about the Korean culture, history, and literature through this collection. Most of my classmates--except the one that also reviewed it here--didn't seem to care for the class or text. However, I've sold off most of my college texts and kept this one.

Andrew K. Dennis is the Manager of Application Development at Prometheus Research. Prometheus Research is a leading provider of integrated data management for research and the home of HTSQL, an open source navigational query language for RDMS.

Andrew has a Diploma in Computing and a BS in Software Engineering; he is currently studying a second BS in Creative Computing in his spare time.

He has over 10 years of experience working in the software industry in the UK, Canada, and USA. This experience includes e-Learning, CMS and LMS development, SCORM consultancy, web development in a variety of languages, open source application development, and running a blog dedicated to maker culture and home automation.

His interests include web development, e-Learning, 3D printing, Linux, the Raspberry Pi and Arduino, open source projects, parallel computing, home automation, amateur electronics, home networking, and software engineering.

Fun projects for your extra Raspberry Pi's

I have a number of Raspberry Pi's sitting around from various projects I have experimented with in the past. I came across this book on building a cluster using two Raspberry Pi's.

The book guides you though MPI (Message Passing Interface) and Hadoop and provides novices with a good guide for getting started.

As well as software development aspects there are some fun little side projects like building your own stackable case using Lego's. There is also an interesting introduction to super computing to give you a background to the field.

Overall a great introduction to parallel computing aimed at the novice.

Absolutely wonderful on so many levels!

This book is absolutely wonderful on so many levels, I love it to bits. This book would be perfect for people who want to explore and start to close the gap between their deepest knowing/insights and their everyday expression in daily life. This is about discovering true long-lasting peace, contentment and happiness; here and now -- regardless of life circumstances and what's going on in and around ourselves.

It's quite rare to find a gem like this, that not only dives fully into the depths of the Absolute/Infinite, but also firmly grounds this wisdom and insights in everyday living, everyday expression, in a very accessible and practical sense. The author is an amazing teacher in person as well, he lives and expresses his own teachings outside the classroom too, which you can really tell from between the lines in this book.

This book holds up brilliantly to repeated reads -- it always has something new to offer each time, revealing new aspects of its content as your own understanding keeps growing.

I would warmly recommend this book to people who are interested in the teachings of the likes of Sri Ramana Maharishi, Sri Poonjaji (Papaji), Sri Mooji, Adyashanti and Rupert Spira -- genuine teachers of non-duality and awakened, embodied, living.

Simple but powerful

This is the kind of book you need to keep with you all the time. It is a powerful tool for people searching for their inner-happiness, balance and well-being. With simple words, wise explanations, you just realize how easy it is to open yourself to your own freedom. You understand that happiness is in you. You don’t need to ask somebody else to find it for you. This seems to be obvious, but it is by reading this book that I understood a lot of things about how I was binded by my beliefs, and how finaly it is easy to break them. Of course, it’s is not enough to read it, you have to �live� and practice these thoughts and advices. But nothing complicated, just a kind of agreement to find with your ego. I think it is the most important thing I understood: my ego des not have to rule my life, and unfortunatly it is what happens most of the time.
This is the kind of book I don’t want to lend, it is too essential for me to read it again, just to remember what to do when I "lose myself� again in our hurried life…
I warmly recommand this book for his simplicity of form but powerful content.
